"Swimsical" was released in late 1995, but recorded in 1994. The album was produced by Jørn Christensen, of DePress fame. In Norway, the opening track "Miss Being Miserable With You" became a national radio hit. Although critically acclaimed Norwegian power-pop three-piece Swim (a.k.a. The 99th Floor) were guitar pop aficiniados in the midst of in the Britpop heyday, their sound was a much influenced by bands from across the Atlantic such as Hüsker Dü, Violent Femmes, Television and R.E.M as by classic punk and 60's bands like The Kinks and The Byrds. The album covers a wide and eclectic range of styles, from the pop-punk of "Sugar and Spice", via all-acoustic "Dreamt I was Dreaming" to the wide-open spacious guitars shaping "Blister".
