Sketches of Innocence

Asher Quinn (Asha) 2005-01-01

专辑简介

This is an instrumental new-age compilation from Asher Quinn, and consists of solo piano vignettes and other lightly orchestrated sketches that go to form a delightful, restful, playful suite of music perfectly suited to the hearth and home. The bulk of the pieces were originally recorded on two albums for New World Music, "Single as Love" and the "Art of Love" in the 1990's, but form an integrated whole here which captures a certain spirit of innocence. Asher Quinn is remarkable in that, as a new-age artist essentially, he has produced dynamic, joyous, filmic fully orchestrated pieces in his career, as well as an exceptionally beautiful body of folk and spiritually-tinged love ballads. Here he shows yet another side to his creativity with these naive, spontaneous piano pieces which have echoes of Satie and Debussy. Asher himself reveals in the album booklet that many of these musical sketches were impressionistic responses to personal adventures in both the Dordogne and in Crete, and that they seem to reflect an almost child-like age of idealism and carefree innocence. The album is very popular with mothers and children, it has been noted, because it creates kind of spell ideal for creativity and active imagination.
