Krupa

Pete Siers Trio 2013-08-23

专辑简介

This audio snapshot could be considered a HI-Rez performance of pop music from mid 1940`s. Swing at its peak, just before Be-Bop was elevated, by three giants: Benny Goodman, Gene Krupa, Teddy Wilson. Their ability was to set the bar as to what was "capacity" of swing music. This new offering by drummer Pete Siers, has focused on a time period that is brought to the present and beyond. The terms - catchy, quirky might come to mind to those who hold modern in their heart. Let`s just say, "fun" is not a time period, and the renewal of toe tapping and Lindy Hop are a reminder of where we have come from. The execution is premium here - check out Tad W**d who can play as modern or as free as the best there is. His embodiment of Teddy Wilson, or do I dare say, Art Tatum, are referenced in a way that Tad`s identity is still grounded. Dave Bennett is a life long student of Benny Goodman and the clarinet. Perhaps a Rimpoche of Goodman. Someone seeming from another era, who understands swing. Its in his bones. Just as God intended. His visual appearance even brings to mind Goodman. Pete has been mixing it up with these two band mates for over 10yrs. or longer. He is a great listener and simpatico to what is happening around him. The spirit of Krupa is being channeled here successfully, as all three of these swingers dance hard on these tunes. By todays standards- unusual perhaps, as old bottles new wine, yet almost new with clarity, swing, compassion, and confidence. You will again understand why this era was such an important piece of the American music puzzle, known as Jazz. Enjoy, Pete
